Waiting On Wednesday: The Chapel Wars by Lindsey Leavitt

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
that spotlights upcoming releases we can't wait to read

This week I can't wait for:

The Chapel Wars
by Lindsey Leavitt
To be Published: May 6th 2014
by Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Acclaimed author Lindsey Leavitt brings her trademark heart, humor, and romance to her hometown--Vegas
Sixteen-year-old Holly wants to remember her Grandpa forever, but she’d rather forget what he left her in his will: his wedding chapel on the Las Vegas strip. Whatever happened to gold watches, savings bonds, or some normal inheritance?
And then there's Grandpa's letter. Not only is she running the business with her recently divorced parents, but she needs to make some serious money--fast. Grandpa also insists Holly reach out to Dax, the grandson of her family's mortal enemy and owner of the cheesy chapel next door. No matter how cute Dax is, Holly needs to stay focused: on her group of guy friends, her disjointed family, work, school and... Dax. No wait, not Dax.
Holly’s chapel represents everything she’s ever loved in her past. Dax might be everything she could ever love in the future. But as for right now, there's a wedding chapel to save.

Why do I want to read this book?

I've enjoyed both of Lindsey Leavitt's previous stories Sean Griswold's Head and Going Vintage, which are - as Elizabeth Eulberg says in the cover blurb - a great blend of hilarious and heartfelt. i.e. fun but also poignant.

A story set at a Las Vegas wedding chapel sounds like all of those things plus MORE. And there's the promise of a Romeo and Juliet-esque forbidden romance with the 'mortal enemy' wedding chapel owner boy next door. I'm always up for a love story in any form, but this kind is especially exciting. And that cover just screams DELIGHTFUL.

What are you waiting on this week?

  5. I haven't read Sean Griswald's Head, but Going Vintage didn't entirely work for me as I craved a little more depth. I'll be waiting to see what you and other readers think of this one before adding it to my TBR - it seems promising, though. Wonderful pick, Lauren!
