This week I can't wait for (you to read)
Series: Sky Fall #2
by Shannon Messenger
March 4, 2014 by Simon Pulse
Whirlwind romance and breathtaking action continues in the sequel to Let the Sky Fall, which Becca Fitzpatrick called “charged and romantic.”
Vane Weston is haunted. By the searing pull of his bond to Audra. By the lies he’s told to cover for her disappearance. By the treacherous winds that slip into his mind, trying to trap him in his worst nightmares. And as his enemies grow stronger, Vane doesn’t know how much longer he can last on his own.
But Audra’s still running. From her past. From the Gales. Even from Vane, who she doesn’t believe she deserves. And the farther she flees, the more danger she finds. She possesses the secret power her enemy craves, and protecting it might be more than she can handle—especially when she discovers Raiden’s newest weapon.
With the Gale Force weakened by recent attacks, and the power of four collapsing, Vane and Audra are forced to make a choice: keep trusting the failing winds, or turn to the people who’ve betrayed them before. But even if they survive the storms sent to destroy them, will they have anything left to hold on to?

First, does anyone else think it's awesome that these books share their series title with James Bond? There's a reason to read this book, right there. Second reason is that gorgeous cover!
Also, I'm terrible about doing these WoWs right, because I've actually already read Let the Storm Break. When I finished it, I started wishing I'd done a Wednesday post about it. Because I didn't, I figured I'd go ahead and highlight it anyway.
Why should you be waiting on this book? Even though I liked the premise of Let the Sky Fall, it didn't live up to my expectations. BUT, Let the Storm Break was an EXCELLENT sequel. The action, excitement and danger picks up. I connected a lot better to Audra and Vane's relationship, and I really like the complex questions this book asks. I'm now fully on board with this series and desperate for the final book. I love when that happens!
What are you waiting on this week?
I've done that with a couple of book, just because I felt the need to double-highlight them. Definitely intrigued by this series, which I haven't started yet (I will!).
ReplyDeleteI keep getting this series mixed up with the Tempest Trilogy...by Julie Cross maybe? I think it's because both series feature a prominent couple on their covers, but I know that series is ending this year so I assumed this one was too - oops! Anyway, I've been meaning to give one of them a shot and though the first book didn't capture you, I'm glad this sequel is much stronger. I'll wait on your review to see if this has a cliffhanger, but if not then I'm on board! :) Great post, Lauren!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this series yet, but I'm dying to! >.<
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it once out!
Here's my Wednesday post.
That is cool, about the James Bond name. I like the covers in the series and the description sounds good. Glad you liked book 2 and wasn't put off from continuing the series.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!

I'm totally in love with the covers in this series. I haven't read any of Shannon's books yet, but maybe I'll start with this series when it ends so I can do a series binge.

I haven't had a chance to start this series yet but I think these are some gorgeous covers and I hope to do so soon!
ReplyDeleteAhhh so excited to hear that you've read this and that you liked it more than book one! *flails* I really enjoyed the first book and thought it had a lot of series potential. I remember reading your review of Let the Sky Fall and that it didn't quite fulfill your expectations, but hooray for sequels taking it to the next level! Looking forward to this even more now! :-)
