Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?
The more I read, the more I realize that a good story is more important to me than a genre. Here are two examples:
1) I used to think that I didn't like sci-fi, but I've found books in that genre that I've enjoyed. For instance The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, which I read recently and really liked (though the end killed me!).
2) I don't like love triangles as a rule, but I love Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices series, as well as Cynthia Hand's Unearthly series and both of those have triangles that are central to their story lines. I know "love triangles" isn't a true genre, but actually it is to me.
Thanks for hopping by my blog! Both of your picks are on my list to read! :)

Ya triangles are rough. They seem to be in a lot of series now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. following back
I have a confession to make, I actually adore triangles!!!! I can't help it, it's gotten to the point where I'm not interested in a book unless it has a big ole fat triangle ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower, Hooray!

Happy Reading!!
I get annoyed with love triangles real fast, so I can relate. They seem to be in EVERYTHING.

Hopping through. New follower! I really liked Unearthly and I usually don't like angel books.

Thanks for dropping by my blog. I've been trying to get to the Infernal Devices series forever. Maybe in the next few months. :-) New Follower.

I'm a sci-fi junkie!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have read the first Infernal Devices book but I've sworn off Cassie Clare (because I LOVE her so much) until she's finished her series. She KILLS me with those cliffies. Unearthly - we've talked about how I simply MUST start this series soon. I bought the first book but haven't read it yet. I want to read the Marchetta series first.
Good answers!! Proud of the sci-fi!!! YAY!!!
Haha, first of all, can we be best friends?? I hate love triangles as well, and thought I was the only book blogger out there *high fives* second, yey sci-fi! I'm a fan :D
ReplyDeleteSo obviously I'm a new follower, because you rock! Here's my blog (reviews tend to warn of love triangles if they are in the book! ;-) ): http://www.onstarshipsanddragonwings.com/2012/10/21/feature-follow-friday-1/
